  • DDR prefabricated building flat
  • Trabbi simulator
  • Special features when shopping, working & at school
  • East German politics: about socialism & planned economy

The GDR Museum in Berlin is ideal for school classes because it brings everyday life in the GDR to life through interactive exhibits such as a replica prefabricated flat. Students can take part in an original Trabant simulation and thus experience the typical means of transportation in the GDR up close. The exhibition also offers a replica of a GDR border post, where students can understand the strict border controls. Special workshops enable students to examine everyday objects in the GDR and understand their functions.

Highlights from “Spy & Escape at the Berlin Wall”:

  • GPS puzzle tour about GDR escape through a tunnel
  • Real escape tunnel & wall strips on the route
  • Experience the reasons for fleeing (including Stasi surveillance)
  • View of border area & TV tower
+ Free souvenir as a reminder

SchoolRallye's digital treasure hunt “Spy & Escape at the Berlin Wall” is based on real events and playfully shows students what socialist life felt like in the GDR. Is my own neighbour a spy, or can I trust him? How did differences in currencies or waiting times for goods come about? Guided by the instructions via smartphone, students navigate through the political conflicts of the GDR regime. They use encryption techniques, like as the Stasi did. Whether the planned escape remains undetected depends on the team's skill!
